BSD
We've been using FreeBSD on one of our servers here, the 64 bit edition, with no problems outside of some (known) issues with our particular motherboard.

The BSD's are significantly better managed than the Linux's. Linux gets the niftiest and latest userland apps and BSD has to wait for them to be ported. But when it comes to thoroughness of testing, lack of silly politics amongst developers, and rock solid technology in the OS itself, BSD is the standard to go by.

I simply will not allow my servers to rely upon an OS where if one person (Linus) were to disappear or die, the entire OS falls into disarray while people grub for power. BSD has a total of three major forks, all of which have their own specific and stated purpose (OpenBSD for security, NetBSD for portability, FreeBSD for usability), and they stick to it. Those same three BSDs have been around for ages, they aren't going anywhere, and there isn't a "new, rising star" every 18 months that may kill the OS I use. While Linux itself is reliable, its community and the distro mess makes it completely unsuitable for production use, in my mind.
