- Cost is the thing you're missing
- Cost of power line and telephone line to the rural areas are heavily subsidized by the government, right now the problem with the internet connection is who's going to pay the bill for the infrastructure that's not there. Check your electric bill and phone bill, universal access fee is right there (a cost offset to all consumers for cost of laying out infrastructure, effectively a tax levied on all). Are you willing to pay more tax just so folks lives in rural area can have broadband access to the internet?
