The future is wireless!
This idea of using wires because they are already there and available is a waste of time. The future to high speed connectivity in the US is wireless.

I am watching as a small town in my area installs 802.16 (WiMAX) and it is a clear winner folks. Speeds of 75 Mb a second, thirty mile range, no more line of sight problems, and not one shovel of dirt moved to put wires in the ground. It's a WINNER!
