Thanks, Shel!
I admit that I also sometimes get dragged into these "schoolyard discussions" too, but when I do I try to be as civil as possible. On the other hand, though, it is kind of fun to have an argument once in a while wink

To answer your question:

"So the OS is under a six week delay? I am assuming that this is an actual USABLE OLong release cycles suck.S and not just a beta version? (ie: longhorn?)"

As of right now, the distribtion release(Ubuntu "Dapper Drake") IS technically in the fifth alpha(aka "Flight") version. It's pretty usable, but not production-ready. The reasons Mark Shuttleworth is proposing the delay, as stated in the article, is because Dapper will be supported for five years instead of the usual 18 months, and that Dapper will be aimed as the first "enterprise-ready" release of the distribution. The reason why this makes news, is because Ubuntu normally has a release cycle of six months, and the delay obviously would break it up. My opinion on this is that I'm okay with the delay if it brings a better-polished system, but I'm hoping it will only apply to this release only, because long release cycles for any OS just suck.
