MS Doesn't Have to Comply if it's not in their Interests
Why don't they just pull out of the European market and forget all about the regulatory issues?

The MS fanboys are up in arms about the unfairness of what's being done to poor MS, and the MS haters are a little too anxious to see MS have something (anything) stuck to them, regardless of whether it's a good or bad idea.

The fundamental issue remains the same, regardless of the emotions on either side. Non-MS software manufacturers SHOULD be given sufficient information about Windows' internal structure so that their products are truly on a level playing field. MS doesn't sufficiently document their OS so that third-party programmers can "compete" fairly.

Do people actually oppose the concept of providing sufficient information to companies to write good Windows code? If so, why?

I don't think MS should be forced to publicize its source-code, but I really don't think that they'll ever provide sufficient information to other developers short of that step.

Too bad, because the world really could become a better place if other good programmers had enough knowledge about the functioning of Windows to write really good apps. It's difficult to imagine why MS would want to prevent people from developing the best software for their OS UNLESS they're trying to prevent people from competing with them.
