how can a us court influence a EU court
"ECC does have too much discretion, and this should be limited, even if it requires a US court to do it."

This is a ridiculous statement. Also, you are assuming microsoft is in the right here. The judge will be the judge of that.

What is the point of society choosing good judges and paying them a lot of money to run a system of law for our benefit, if we are going to ignore what they say. Sure they aren't perfect, but can you honestly say the judges ruling against Microsoft in the US and now the EU is just bad luck (a run of judges making mistakes)?
Or could you be taking fanboyism or patriotism to a level beyond logic?

Microsoft's corporate behaviour is totally seperate from whether you like the products or not, so you should try to split these apart in your mind. Note: 1% of what microsoft makes when selling software covers the writing of the software. I think this is industry average for shrink wrapped software. Could you imagine what software would be like if they spent 2%?
