You do realize that sales of Office to consumers only count for 6% of Microsoft's total revenue? The margin for consumer products is remarkably thin and pricing is already very cut-throat. It's the business world that pulls in the profits.

Besides, given how many subpoenas Google has been served with in the last few months (at least 3), are you really going to trust your data on their servers? Even if it's not some gov or private agency trying to get your records, you also expose yourself to hacking. At the very least, I'm sure Google's TOS itself for Writely will be like GMail: full rights to scan and archive everything you write for an indefinite period of time.

On the other hand, it's a neat tech. I would love to have some suckers try it out first before I start using it wink
