It is NOT just Linux users that have Google accounts or use Google search
Actually, you will find it is mostly Windows users. And, it is the younger more mobile generation that will be most attracted by a service that works on any computer, any device, anywhere. Anything like this that reduces the need for Windows is very troubling for Microsoft.

And, I still think that Google needs a self branded version of OpenOffice so that files can be edited locally and synced online for use with Writely (and presumably the comming online spread sheets and presentation tools).

Look for the cost of office productivity to fall, with mobility and sharing getting simple and almost free.
