You're absolutely correct!
It is exciting! The OO crowd can use the Google version, while the MS crowd can use MS Office.

I don't see this changing the percentage numbers of users who use their Office suite of choice, but its exciting that the OO people get another, "Googleized" version of OpenOffice!

Sometimes you gotta wonder if for all their swinging, Google hit's nothing but air...
