Microsoft is heavily lobbying the Bush DOJ to block the Oracle-PeopleSoft merge because if the merge goes ahead Microsoft's chance of entry into this business is extremely difficult. Do you remember the ex-Microsoft employee who is now working for the Bush Administration in the White House as an IT 'advisor'? Well, he is doing Microsoft's work in the White House.
Wow, Bush DOJ is supposed to look after the interest of a monopoly but at the same time reasons that it is concerned about market competition caused by others. Besides, Oracle with the merge is still not a monopoly either. There is still Siebel, Microsoft, and others in the market.
