How many of you are high up in business?
You'd be surprised I'm sure to hear the discussions that result from this.

Sure nobody above the GM or VP of the IT department gives a damn about this. BUT the VP's and GM's are keeping a close eye on this situation. AND some of them are more then willing to pay those licensing fee's to avoid future litigation or the price increase that will inevitably come IF SCO wins.

And the reason that they are willing to do this you ask?

SCO's unix already running on multiple servers in the business is a strong selling point. Especially if the company already has an established relationship with SCO. Top that off with the fact that there are hundreds of IT professionals that under NDA have viewed the code in question. Sure one or two of them have posted scathing responses to the code in question. BUT others have gone back and stated quite simply that there MAY be a basis for these law suits.

And the fact of the matter is that even the simple appearance of inpropriety can be enough for the people with the money to fork it over.

Let's see what was it 699 a cpu? hmmm our IT budget is in excess of 20 million and that's not including manpower or prof services. Yeah somehow I think they can toss away 35grand without blinking an eye.

And of course the backup to that will be when SCO loses which they probably will you add yourself to the class action suit just for shits and giggles.
