Well, if we can't make LSB work, what he says makes some sense.
We need the same drivers to work across distributions, we need the same somtware binarys to work across distributions. And, we need backwards compatibility so that older drivers and older software works on the newest LSB spec.

Then choice is good.

And, you all of the great open source applications installed by default, with the ability to download and install whatever you want.
