Open source will not
Open source systems (Linux, BSD, etc.) have a miniscule chance of having a backdoor, due to the way the open source community works. If you try sneaking a backdoor into the code and someone discovers it, you'll be shunned by everyone, and your code will be disregarded, no matter how good it is (and, contrary to the belief of some people, open source doesn't mean you're changes will be incorprated into the program, as the project owner(s) still has the final say on what gets put into the program).
