It really is difficult to feel any sympathy for those guys. I was rooting for them as an underdog at one point, but it was just one spyware infested, in-your-face-popup thing after another. I finally just ripped it out. I'd never download another one.

I understand that they have to try to sell me stuff so they can stay in business. I don't begrudge them that. Eudora does that too. The Eudora folks confine themselves to a 1" x 1" square that shows me ads while Eudora is open. I can live with that. I've even bought things through it. But Eudora never gets in my face when I haven't invited it to. When I close Eudora, that's it for the ad box. RealPlayer beeps at me from the Task Bar, throws pop-ups at me at random, and generally fails to play well with others.

If they die, they did it to themselves. Rude salesmanship does not work on the web.
