1) MS do it so developers KNOW there's a browser, media players
etc already loaded so you can program off it. Efficiency.

2) But I suppose it no different to being forced to use 'iTunes' on
the Mac

1) developers need STANDARDS, not proprietory crap. efficiency
in what? bing infected & spreading virii?? people forget that as
monopoly m$ has to play by different rules

2) iTunes is not only available on OS X, it actually runs alot
better on windows than wmp does

many don't realize how innovation has been slowed due to the
bungling of m$. believe it or not, but redmond produces 2nd
rate sw at best. they also engineer the os so that competing
products don't work well
