"trickle-up economics"

That's a good point, although I might point out that the Republicans have seen it from the opposite view (trickle-down) for a number of years, and have been ridiculed by the Democrats for it. But I think it has some merit. But the Democrats' focus on blue-collar jobs makes me worry that their new-found concern will begin to fade after the elections (because once the elections are over, corporate "contributions" will resume, regardless of who is in power).

And, I think I agree with you for the most part. I am not happy with jobs moving overseas either; I see a parallel to concerns over an important piece of infrastructure (Windows, anyone?) being controlled from another country. I lost my job more than two years ago because of economic fallout from 9-11, but I haven't been able to find anything since, and I think a lot of that is due to the decrease in opportunites caused by jobs moving overseas.

But I'm always leery of the government doing anything "in our best interest". Must be my natural cynicism, I guess.
