Question is does it cost less?
Since you can download the Media Player free already I doubt there will be prices difference. Still I can see a need if you want a stripped down OS for work purposes. If employees have no need for a Media Player why have it there in the first place.

Not having means less to install, though that means little. But the real benifit is in security. If you don't have a Windows Media Player and vulnerbility is found then there is no worries for you.
