Yes, SCOX claims control over drivers for IBM hardware
"As I remember the various articles, the funny part is that several pieces of code (NUMA??) were written by IBM for their AIX Unix derivative and SCO seems to be claiming that this gives them rights to that code."

NUMA, non-uniform memory access, is a patented hardware feature that IBM wrote code for. It is one of several things that SCOX is claiming that they have control over in spite of the fact that support for this hardware didn't exist in any previous version of Unix. And the Journaling File System that they wrote for OS/2 and ported to Linux? SCOX claims control over that too! After all there was a version of JFS for AIX even though it's not the basis for the Linux JFS. You get the idea.

Recently they claimed control over code for 36 IBM-patented features. What good is it to have a patent if someone else has control over your use of it? Only SCOX knows. And so far they aren't telling how this works, just claiming it violates something that they further claim to have [inherited] control of.
