Not that I'd ever do it, but ....
Linux vendors don't offer much in the way of Microsoft-oriented support either. >(%-o)} Companies or groups that offer emulation or cross-platform products have support forums, e-mail help desks, newsgroups, etc. But you won't find SuSE or RedHat offering Windows-related tech support. That would come from folks like the WINE Project, Aladdin and VMware. While I'm not really comparing apples to apples here, I don't find it surprising that Linux is an unsupported OS now that Microsoft owns the program. I DO find it surprising that they support OS/2!@&^%$? That got my attention, but probably because I'm an oddball geek.

I run W2k Pro and FreeBSD under VMware on Linux and have yet to get the Plan 9 virtual machine to complete the bootup process, so that is waiting for me to apply myself to the development or discovery of a solution. It does indeed make me giggle that there is a way to run Linux under Windows.

And truly, Penguinistas wouldn't be likely to find this program interesting any more than Mac enthusiasts would be in need of a Mac-on-Windows operating environment.

But Windows users, such as students, who might be curious about OSs in general, those looking to migrate eventually, or who want to assess if Linux has something to offer that they are interested in might think of The Product Formerly Known As Virtual PC as an interesting, educational or even valuable item to have.

And one who is looking to subvert from inside might find it very useful in debunking myths, porting software, demonstrating interoperability or otherwise opening the eyes of those higher in the food chain in a Windows-oriented shop. And this is all aside from professional programmers who just need a way to quickly prototype and test something without having to dual-boot or have multiple computers when the one the one on or under their desk is already 5 times more powerful than they need and can easily handle two workloads at once.
