That what gets me, the above isn't true anymore. They just have to 'promise', no proof necessary. They're even supposed to only bring in staff if they can't find US programmers, but again no proof needed.
There was an employer here a couple of weeks back openly saying he was putting in as many H1B applications as quickly as possible in order to get the biggest share of this years quota. He didn't even pretend it was a "vacancy-US seatch-Offshore search" scenario, he was just getting H1Bs.

"Not all the foreign workers come from poor countries. Someone from Western Europe or Japan would not come to US for a lower salary. And the tax that H1B workers pays is going to support US citizens."

No, US pays less than Europe or Japan currently. If a H1B is displacing a US worker, then there is no net gain to the US there, only a net loss. Which is why the controls should be put back in place.

"Think of it like this: if you hire enough H1B workers all US people could live on the taxes that these people pay."

If 1 H1B displaces 1US worker, then the taxes have to pay for both the displaced worker, and also cover the tax that that worker would have paid. Thats a loss. After their time is up and they go home who pays then?
