You have an unusual argument here, Love
Why would you consider WikiCalc to be competition for OpenOffice's Calc and not consider it as competition for Excel? I fully expect both Microsoft, OpenOffice, and others to scramble to include similar functionality. This article even references Microsoft's acquisition of Groove for that specific purpose.

Any useful advance in functionality in one product will be quickly matched by the competitor products, thereby further entrenching price and support as the main factor in purchasing decisions.

Microsoft has the market share and the war chest to sustain a very long term battle, but I would hardly consider this article to herald the "final nail in the coffin" for Calc or anyone else. If anything, let's celebrate that Dan has finally found a way to make the spreadsheet a collaboration tool. That is one amazing guy.
