Fortunately, Innodb is still GPL
I firmly believe Oracle bought Innobase to asphyxiate InnoDB - it was getting too "enterprise." They now control the development staff, and will slow it down and send it in directions that don't compete with Oracle's main offerings.

The good news is that InnoDB is GPL, meaning that others can "fork" and continue on.

Of course, Oracle will also embark on programs that will make life for the "forked" InnoDB more difficult; Oracle owns the trademark, so the name will have to change; they'll (try to) change the API; they have a continuing contract with MySQL, so Oracle's engine will be bundled, and users wanting the free engine will have to install it as a patch; etc.
