32 bit, but 64 bit is available
Good question. I think it will be a long time before you see
an OS that is only 64 bit simply because of the investment
customers and software houses have in 32 bit apps. The
approach Panther takes provides a bridge between 32 and
64 bits. One program that runs on G3 and G4 Macs (very
well indeed on my 667 PB) and also uses the 64 bit power
when apps call for it. I think it is a good approach as the
transition to 64 bit computing is going to take a long time.
