Search wars are about to get personal

Google slipping with me: I have been a Google user for several years now but I am increasingly dissatisfied. Formally, what I was looking for was at or near the top of the list. Increasingly, the answer is buried. Instead, the top query answers are various companies trying to sell me something; they have figured out how to their links near the top. To what extend Google is cooperating I don't know. All I know is that it takes more time that it used to.
