I had kernel panics.
If you are talking about all the green "Lock" lights on the keyboard flashing, and the comp not responding, I had that.

I think more than 5 times in the last 1.5 years. Three were because of hardware overheating. Finally realized how bad it is to leave your comp open. Should be happy I didn't totally lose hardware.

The others were due to clustering. Two master nodes on the same cluster.... BAD. And the less powerful computer will give out before the other one.... which happened to be cygwin.

The others were probably by me doing something stupid or messing up in compiling the kernel.

But you are right, saying the kernel never crashes is very incorrect. It can happen and probably has... nothing is that absolute, not even BSD. Though you must admit, for a properly configured environment and independent of non-admin use, it is rare.
