Having to type in subject lines really, really sucks!!
Is why all the people who carp about not wanting MS controlling their machines, are cheering AOL for controlling peoples machines whithout their permission.

I wouldn't exactly call it cheering but nevermind.

Let's look at what AOL is doing. First of all it is blocking ports. That's OK. It's AOL's network, it can do what it wants. That doesn't control users' computers.

Next, it is offering a site for its users to go and turn on/off the Messenger as they desire. Still not controlling users' machines.

Finally, it is automatically disabling Messenger when an AOLer logs in. OK that's controlling users' machines. But AOL is up front about it. Hell, I know about it now and I don't even use AOL. Furthermore, even I know there is a website I can go to to turn it back on if I so desire.

There's a big difference between AOL's open approach (to enhance overall network security) and Microsoft's surreptitious approach (to enhance overall profitability).
