Not really, joe, since M$'s firewall sucks endlessly, BUT I agree...
... with you and ZZ that changes should FIRST be
suggested, perhaps in the strongest of language,
including informing the clueless that M$ Msging ain't
needed for non-corporate environs, yada yada...

However, your suggestion that the M$ "firewall" - more
a word than and actual, effective service - s/b turned on
isn't a very good idea. There are lots of MUCH
BETTER firewalls, several of whaich are free, like
ZoneAlarm, which beats the crap out of most firewalls
out of the box. And ya don't want the friggin' M$ firewall
active in such cases anyway.
