Fedora is NOT an "experimental version" nor is it "geared to enthusiasts"
"Fedora is Red Hat's more experimental version of Linux,
geared to enthusiasts."

Fedora is a Red Hat sponsored community project to
provide a complete and free Linux distribution based
entirely on open source software. it is NOT an
"experimental version" nor is it "geared to enthusiasts".

"Although it's free, it lacks the support and long-term bug
fixes found in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux product."

Red Hat does not provide technical support for this
distribution, support is provided by the community. This
support can take many forms, but includes the option of
paid support via a number of third parties (like myself).

Fedora has an aggressive release cycle (3 releases a year)
which permits it to include the latest software releases. The
Fedora team moves aggressively to the latest version
ignoring updates for previous versions. However the Fedora
community has stepped in to provide free updates for older
versions. An example is the Fedora Legacy Project (see
http://www.fedoralegacy.org/) which will provide support
for current + 3 releases (eg one year).

This is a wonderful project and Red Hat should be
congratulated for it. It forms the basis of many of the
systems I support.

Red Hat disappointed many when they dropped the non-
enterprise distribution, but what they have given back is a
real gem. Unfortunately it is often misunderstood.
