M$ should just finish biting off the Apple
Of course the tech you're daydreaming about in the "new" Vista is already in OSX. The widgets only come into view when you press a certain button (which is configurable). I set clicking the middle mouse button to bring my widgets to the fore.
The unfortunate thing about widgets though is that they are always running. I don't use them that often, so I wound up shutting them off, as collectively they were using up a big hunk of memory.
