I can easily live without such innovation
As long as you understand that most of Vista is just recycled stuff from other people's work, fine.

I've tried out the last 2 Vista CTPs and I think the recycled stuff is boring. Oooo, transparent windows! Ooooo, the window doesn't just minimize anymore, it kind of "swirls" down to the task bar. Apple may have innovated these "features" but I would put those "features" on par with MS innovating a green Start button. Who cares?

And the sidebar? All OSs have had functional equivalents for years. I guess you could look at the fact that it is now on the side of your screen as an "innovation". Congrats Apple for innovating the location of the same old helper utilities that everyone has had for up to 15 years (starting with Sidekick)! Hell, you could get the exact same functionality with ActiveX and Active Desktop in Windows 95.

You keep the sidebars and your swirly minimize animation, I'll keep the flexibility of being able to customize my systems the way I want to, not the way some corporate guy in Cupertino thinks is best for me.

Woo-hoo, I can see why you're
excited.

Who is excited? I don't see anyone here excited other than all the ABMers who are falsly claiming that MS claimed that sidebars are innovative. Personally, I don't think I'll upgrade to Vista unless I absolutely have to. I haven't seen anything in there that makes me think: oooo, I gotta have this!
