Yes, one of the pitfalls of Solaris is hardware support!
But, it is rock solid on the hardware it supports!

You forgot to mention Solaris containers, soon comming to Linux as Partitions from SWSoft (comercial product is Virtuoso I think).

But, Linux will eventually have all of the features of Solaris and more unless Sun could pull of a coup and get lots of developers excited about Solaris. Licensing Solaris under GPL3 (when released) and Linus whining about GPL3 won't be enough though!

Actually, Mac OSX is much more stable partly because Apple has to support a limited ammount of hardware. Limited hardware support, but higher reliability is NOT necessarily a disadvantage for servers!!!
