"the Solaris kernel is far superior to the Linux kernel (notice I am
ONLY talking kernel)"

Look the SunOS kernel for Solaris is very good, but why do you
claim it is "far superior" to the Linux kernel?

SunOS kernel has good support for SMP, large multiprocessor
systems, RBAC and DTrace is very nice. Linux would counter
with wider architecture support, better (wider?) of peripherals
and device, MAC, and god SMP and multiprocessor support.

Both work extremely well in the key areas of availability and
reliability. I'm interest in why you believe SunOS is "far superior"?

My guess is that they know that  Michael Kelly | 01/30/06
You can be sure that all libraries will be LGPL on Solaris, (as Linux)  DonnieBoy | 01/30/06
Already have it with current license.  No_Ax_to_Grind | 01/30/06
The point is, DRM is NO problem with GPL2 or GPL3 kernels, the DRM program  DonnieBoy | 01/30/06
Well, with Linus being a tuuurd right now, Sun might gain some mindshare  DonnieBoy | 01/30/06
Nice one  Richard Flude | 01/30/06
Yes, Sun is only thinking about using GPL3, WHEN is is final. And, there  DonnieBoy | 01/30/06

Yes, one of the pitfalls of Solaris is hardware support!  DonnieBoy | 01/30/06
