Even with 40 Billion they can not stop the viruses and the bugs.
They can not stop Linux on the server front. They already lot that battle. They can not stop the pilot tests and the people switching to Desktop Linux. They have been able to leverage their monopoly and money to create lock in. And there lies their problem. They are adding free features to everything to lock you in. All the money in the world can NOT buy them the ability to manage all the un-needed complexity and the security problems. Linux is gaining momentum ready to take market share for the masses of fixed function desktops in the corporate world. You can deny all of the things happening around desktop Linux and gloat about the fact that Linux currently has insignificant market share penetration even with the recent gains. But that would ignore all of the momentum, the testing, and the significance of recent high profile switches.
