Interesting article, hard to really know how to interpret it.

Apple's overall revenue is way, way up. Much of that is due to
the iPod, but the margin on a $299 iPod is much smaller than on
a $2500 computer. So while revenue and profits continue to
climb, margins are dropping. Is this really a problem? Take
away the iPod and Apple's margins are as high as ever, but
revenue and profits would be a lot lower (although still growing
and doing better year by year).

I guess their argument is that if Apple's lock on the music player
business goes away, the company won't be as profitable and the
stock won't be as worth as much (duh). But that doesn't mean
that without the iPod the company wouldn't be healthy or
profitable, as it clearly would.
