Surely you should be looking at growth

One that grows its markets the most or creates new markets.
Sadly MS doesn't have a good record here.

"On a company with 1 product selling exceedingly well, or on a
company with products across a wide spectrum selling more and
more, all be it slowly?"

Is it Apple of Red Hat you refer to having only one product (it
seems obvious to me that neither does)? Or was that a reference
to MS whose windows client and office products are the only
significant earners with relatively flat growth in other areas?

"When I was a kid, everyone had a Sony Walkman. Any other
questions?"

And now they have iPods. So what's your point?
