If people really want the rich GUI interface of a client application why don?t people make a normal client application in .NET or JAVA? As for deployment issues nowadays there a so many automatic deployment and update tools available for the same.
Why don?t people understand that Web application and desktop Client applications serve different purposes? Why try to make the web application like a desktop application using things like AJAX (it?s the most terrible sounding acronym I came across!) and reinvent the wheel?
