the programers get paid to prgram no matter what they are doing, by their employer. your outsourcing argument is plain stupid, because it's not just open source that's outsourcing (MS is too BTW).
and so what if they give away the code for free. their business is NOT the code. their business is a whole system package (including installation and maintentence support).
and lastly, think about the fact that many... many software projects are NOT made to be sold. they are made internally to SAVE a company money. in these cases, why not use open source? it will save you much time and money in developing.
