I'm a teacher, and you are so right...
We spend TOO much time teaching how to use specific tools, instead of teaching the ideas and issues. We should be letting the businesses teach the tools. Know why we don't? Because businessmen (the ones who contribute to the legislators, you know?) complain that high school grads can't use Word or Excel or Access! So we spend MILLIONS of your dollars buying and maintaining equipment; and hours of each day teaching kids how to use a machine and an App that they may or may not use on the job; instead of forcing the business to spend a few hours teaching the employee how to do it. Ah, the power of the marketplace at work in education. By the way, in the process we basically force 90% of the kids to forget about Mac or Linux or any other OS, think that may have any bearing on why MS has a 90% market share? HMMMMM!
