We must offshore for our own good.

It is going to suck.

But if we do NOT offshore, we will hurt the country for our children and grandchildren.

We need people in these other countries to develop full working economies so their labor is not so cheap.

We need our OWN cost of living to come down- some of our costs are simply insane compared to the rest of the world.

We need to identify the "hidden costs".

Companies that offshore should be hit with stiff unemployment and retraining taxes to cover all the workers they are dumping on society.

Countries that scam us by excusing their programmers from income tax need to have appropriate levies laid. There is NO WAY Indian programmers should pay ZERO income tax if they write for export. They already have a big advantage in cost of living.

We need to SLOW this down too or we are going to end up with either

a: A lot of people on welfare and unemployed.
b: A lot of people in jail and in prison because they finally turned to crime when they couldn't find a job.

Either way- you and I pay about 40 bucks a day to support people on welfare or in jail.

We need to pass some laws limiting company executive compensation to about 50 times their lowest paid employee- and maybe even a near confiscatory income tax (90%) on pay over a million dollars per year. (Why can a company afford to lay off 7000 employees but give it's CEO tens of millions of dollars in salary and options?)

But America has low unemployment and the highest standard of living in the world BECAUSE WE DO NOT PROTECT OUT-DATED JOBS.

Protectionism === GREAT DEPRESSION.

And retrain- take a job in sales, accept the fact that the days of getting paid 80 grand a year for thinking may be over.

It would be great if the dollar drops too. And the europeans know this and are trying to get us to support the dollar. But if the dollar dropped by 50% against the other currencies, we would be a LOT less able to buy foreign imports and offshoring would make a LOT less sense.
