Delusion of sustainable inequality was always doomed
In the search for maximum profits, US companies were always on track for lowering their overheads by exporting progressively more of them to countries where governments could co-conspire in keeping labour and material costs low.

Now you wouldn't expect US companies to become socialist, would you? That would be against your principles! So put up with the relentless march of profits over people and be thankful that they let you have any job. After all, what are you to them but expensive labour fodder. So you should be happy that they are not letting compassion and consideration get in the way of good old free enterprise. Or are you some sort of closet socialist after all?

As for ending up in a one room mud hut. If out of all the economic entropy, that is all you ended up with, then the US way of life is grossly overusing its share of resources. I suspect that the equilibrium point has a somewhat higher standard of living than that.
