- Quark: too much for too little
-
Ok, so you have a program that can layer pages
together. Ok so it can import images and set type. Ok so
it can process multiple process colors for printer jobs,
but none of that matters when the program is riddled
with flaws. Quark, is an industry standard that has
toppled the competition, but if you asked any of the
students who use Quark on a regular basis in my
schools graphic lab, you'd hear nothing but complaints
and groans. The phrase "God I hate Quark" seems to
be the mantra around the graphic design labs. Which
brings me to my point - just because it is an industry
standard doesn't mean its any good. Beyond the
absurd asking price, the software is complicated to
manipulate and many of the students have print issues -
in fact it is a rare occation when someone actually
successfully prints an entire file without a hitch. It is
ridiculous to even have those kinds of rudimentary
issues with a program. Now I am not about to lay down
all the problems that Quark creates, because this isn't
about griping, it's about change. Hopefully, Adobe,
unlike its competitor Quark, will listen to the complaints
of the consumer and make a program that will be
simple to use, effective with other programs, and god
forbid actualy sync with the printers. If Quark wasn't so
bad I wouldn't even be writting about this - and certainly
I am not alone on this. Quark, time to step down... - Posted by: Macromatic Posted on: 10/24/03 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
