To me, It was some much easier to code out a Progress app for business stuff, reports etc. BUT Progress has some weak areas in regards to native functions in the db. Thats SQL's strength, lots of native functions whereas many times with Progress you'd have to write your own small function or procedure to handle the stuff. I think they are slowly getting it with version 10.

Yes their client server stuff is good. The beauty of webspeed, is that you dont have to define your connections all the time. Just code you app and call through cgi etc and its all good. Its actually a great app server. I just hope Progress not only opens itself up more to .NET, but makes it easier than it currently is and actually provides decent information WITH working examples like every other db company in the world. They are really extremely bad at making information available about developing on their platform and products..really bad. Also they seem to be really new to the whole world of using the web for disseminatin information, licensing web based products etc.
