One thing Progress developers...
Are better at, Client-Server applications. My switch from Relational non 4GL languages to Progress than back.. has made me learn that many SQL applications aren't built around a Client-Server model like Progress is.

Of all of them, I've seen running on a WAN (SQL) unbearably slow even with high end Windows applications. It seems they are so protective of their code (where as progress can encrypt the code) that they don't use the SQL db as they should with Stored Procedures, Views etc...

One thing I've learned from switch back from Progress.

I programmed in the progress environment for 3 1/2 years and although it was tedious at times.. Coming back from Progress into SQL.. I see many limitations that SQL has over Progress, and Progress limitations that SQL has.. Know what I mean?

Now only if they could combine those DB technologies into one.. We'd have a great RDBMS.
