Corel revamps office, graphics software

I was always a fan of WP...: ... but OOo 2.0 wooed me away. With OO I can work with the same docs at home in linux and at work in XP and it's seemless.

I'd used WP from the DOS days right through to WP12. But I can't see the point of buying X3. Not when OOo does everything I need it to for free.

As for PDF editing .. yeah, I thought the point of PDF's were to make them final, permanent, archival files. If you can take them and open them in WPX3, they lose a little of their appeal. And I'm sure Adobe will be miffed - since currently their full version of Acrobat is the big option to edit PDF's. Well, for Windows and Mac anyway. Linux users have KWord, Scribus, and a couple of really obscure, complicated ways to do it. KWord's system is a bit different - importing the PDF as an OASIS-standard doc and then giving you options to re-save as PDF, or a number of other formats. Hmmm ... kinda sucks to not be using Linux here if you want to edit PDF's without shelling out several hundred dollars ... or buying the new WordPerfect.; Posted by: Henaway Posted on: 01/18/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
