partitioning and virtualization are not server centric.
If you were doing something like allocating a number of processors on a mainframe (think Sun E10000) for a certain task and a number of other processors for another task, allocating them to one domain or another, then 'server' may be an issue. What is being discussed here is the ability to run a virtual session and virtual hosted OS as can be done via VMWare on Windows and Xen (or similar) on Linux. This is done on workstations/desktops, say for running a test or development system in in its on container, seperate from the host environment and not subjecting the host system to any application instabilities on the virtual environment. An example of this could be: your desktop/workstation is running Fedora and you are developing also for FreBSD, testing and developing against a virtual hosted BSD system, possibly hosting and testing against hosted Debian and SuSE environments and maybe a hosted Windows environment (larger market to do multiple platforms).

The poster you responded to doesn't want to use Windows Server, they stated Windows Vista was what they wanted to use.
