Key Question: What are your requirements?
If the issue is primarily one of e-mail, calendaring and scheduling, MS Outlook and MS Exchange will win almost every time.

If, on the other hand, an organization is looking for a secure platform for the above requirements, plus a platform for collaboration and possibly even application development, MS is isn't even in the running - an impartial view of both will pick the Lotus Notes/Domino solution every time.

Sure, the Notes application has its quirks, but it's solid, secure and reliable. Even when I get the BSOD, Notes comes back up without a hitch and I've never, repeat NEVER, lost data. Replication is a very important factor, allowing for full and complete functionality whether connected or otherwise.

BTW, has anybody paid any attention to the 2006-01-23 Siemens and IBM announcement that users will be able to launch VoIP calls and conferences from Notes? Read about it at http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1914460,00.asp
