Notes wins every time
Better reliability - Notes is not tied to MS products so you can run it on numerous platforms - AS/400, AIX, Linux, Windows, and I think OSX server (not 100% on that) This way you can have a reliable and stable OS for your mail.

Better scalability - there is a reason most large companies use Notes. It scales well. Replication works all the time.

Better DR - screw up a mailbox - restore the file from the backup. Can't do that with Exchange, you have to restore to the database(s) that hold the mailbox. WTF is that? Replication works.

I could go on and on, but Exchange is not built for the enterprise, despite what Microsoft will tell you. Notes (and Groupwise) are....

The only thing Exchange has going for it is Outlook, but I fail to see the attraction to that bloated POS...
