Coincidences?
Ray Ozzy becomes a CTO, and now Microsoft starts up in an agressive battle to take done Notes/Domino which Ray Ozzy created.

I wish people in power had more of a moral stance and actually put some faith in the products they created.

Next Linus will leave the OSDL for Microsoft to code Windows.

This will be a battle of great proportions. IBM can toute the power of Notes accross more than just one platform. Where as Exchange only has Windows. IBM also tied Domino to DB2 and interfaced it with Webshere. Microsoft probably has many tie-ins for SQL Server and IIS/.net.

IBM will be able to handle this for the first release of the new collaborative Exchange, but I think they need to build up some allies for the upcoming battle. Sun Microsystems would be a good one to get in bed with. Roll out both Sun and IBM platforms, but build a more robust java environment for Domino to tie into for applications.

What would really ruin Microsoft's day is if IBM opensourced the Notes Client. I don't see that happening, but it would be hilarious.
