for forcing all involved parties remove any ***initial*** UNIX
code vestiges from their systems. The UNIX kernels and
utilities have been rewritten so many times that it seems to
me that very little verbatim code from USL is there (in UNIX)
any more.

Now, how SCO keeps claiming that UNIX code is pervasive
in Linux defies common sense. Nevertheless, verbatim code
is straighforward to replace.

Another really iportsand issue is that the definitions of
UNIX, its APIs, commands and utilities is managed and
ownded by the Open Group (www.opengroup.org). Linux is
making effort to become POSIX compliant and thus closer
to be a branded UNIX system.

What SCO is whinning about is the historical code of the
UNIX. But the code is just a point in an implementation
space. One is free to implement APIs and functionalities any
way hs/she pleases them. So SCO has an empty point.

But it is good that new systems will become completely
unencumbered by old code.

Thanks SCO
