car analogy
last week i had a caller.
(i work internet tech support)

didn't know what version of windows he had (not suprising to me, 80% of those who call me dont know)

when he rightclicked on "my computer" (after 2 minutes of instructions on how to do that) he would get a kernel32 error.
O_o

more questions, i found out that he had been "cleaning up his computer"

he didn't know WHAT he had deleted, just that he had deleted some stuff, and he didn't know WHERE he had deleted it from.

i bring into play a WONDERFUL car analogy:
me: "okay, let me tell you something. let's say, you know NOTHING at all about cars."
him: "okay"
me:"now, do you open up the hood of your car, and start removing random things out of the engine?"
him: "sigh, no..."
me: "NOPE! you're going to have to reinstall windows."

i deal with such stupidity on a daily , sometimes hourly basis. it is these people who cause us all headaches, and who spread viruses.
